The Power of Example

By Cynthia LeBaron

When I think of the power that examples can be in our life, I think of my mother. I was probably 14 or 15 years old. We were on a family vacation trip camping in our tent trailer. Come Sunday morning mom discovered that she hadn’t packed her Sunday clothes to go to church in. She made sure all her kids had packed theirs but she somehow forgot hers. I remember being excited and thinking to myself, “YES…that means we don’t have to go to church today!” But, unfortunately for me my mom swallowed her pride and wore pants to church that day. She taught me a lesson that I’ll never forget. She made a point to always attend her church meetings with or without church clothes no matter where she was. Here is a picture of my family about that same time frame. And a picture of me as a teenager.
